Sweet Land - Final Major Project - May 2014
For our final major project, we were tasked with simply making any film we would like (excluding explicit content), preferably under 10 minutes long from any genre.
My film is about a brand new mobile phone game that draws the main character Tara in, which eventually leads to her pushing away her friends, making her fall behind and get in trouble at school and even go as far as steal money, just to fuel her new found addiction.
I decided to go for a parody film, mainly because the topic I aimed for was one that very current and realistic, as people do get addicted to these kinds of games and do put a considerable amount of money into them.
I also adopted some comedy and thriller elements into the film as I wanted the audience to be entertained at the beginning, as Tara’s addiction starts off minor, but later on in the film, I want the audience to know what Tara is turning into, and I feel I have achieved that well.
Starring Charlotte Davies as Tara.

Derailed - Documentary Project - December 2013
For this project, we were tasked to create a documentary on a topic of our choice. I personally chose the train situation in Wiltshire, at it is a very commonly complained about topic and has a good amount of questions that could be answered.
This was the first college project that I worked alone on. It features shots from Trowbridge railway station and Bath Spa railway station, as well as screenshots of tweets from users complaining to First Great Western's Twitter account and interviews with train commuters in Wiltshire.
I tried to take a fairly boring topic such as trains and make it more entertaining, by making it fairly fast paced, but still detailed as well as choosing the right song for the documentary, which is sort of creepy to provide a feeling of uncertainty.
The website for the documentary, featuring pre-production is here.

College Road - Monday 2 - Soap Opera Project - October 2013
For this project, the first and second years for the course got together to produce a soap opera set in a fictional college. Everyone was split into seven groups, each producing each episode, with two on Monday and Friday and one on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Our episode is following right after Episode 1 and sees Cameron and Jay getting closer as Jess watches, seeing Eve cheat and Mr. Turner having something to hide after Laura collapses in class.
The script was written by George Young and Peter Wiltshire, with help from Marcus Lywood and Sarah Mundy.
Sarah Mundy was the director, Marcus Lywood was the cameraman and editor.

Memory - Five Minute Sci-Fi Drama Assignment - June 2013
For this final assignment for the 2012/2013 college year, we were asked to produce a science fiction drama that had to be 5 minutes in length, following the needs for BBC Three.
Written by Henry Speirs, Memory is about a rather lazy and 'geeky' guy who rediscovers an old friend. However, he later discovers that his old friend has been transformed into The Supreme Virus, who is hellbent on taking over the world.

12 Shots on the Stairs Exercise - April 2013
For this exercise, in groups of 4 people, we were given the task to create a film of our choice that involved the following; it had to use only 12 shots, it had to be filmed on a stairway, it had to have two main characters and there had to be no dialogue.
In my group, we decided to have one of the characters being a student with a bag, which gets stolen by another student. They run up the staircase and sit in a corner, looking around for something, before finding a single printed picture of Nicolas Cage, looking confused before the film ends. This is my edit of the shots we did.
I thought that make the entire film in black and white would work well in providing a slightly dramatic and tense film. However, the film also has a small amount of comedy, which I focused on with the music. The music fits the mood with the black and white film, but with it sounding like a retro video game theme gives it this sense of fun, something a video game is usually aiming to provide.

Animation Project - March 2013
This project was to create an animation about a single letter of the alphabet from a young audience (0-5 years old) for Cbeebies. For this project, we chose the letter M. We had come up with simple words beginning with M, such as 'Moon' and 'Mouse'. We decided to make the moustache move to make it more appealing to the target audience, which was also done by adding a mouse and a martian. The voice-over was done by myself, with Henry Speirs being the voice actor for the characters (Mouse, Moustache and Martian.)
Advertisement Project - February 2013
For this project, we were told to develop an advertisement for a product and aim it for a younger audience, such as teenagers and young adults. We chose Werther's Original, due to it typically being seen as a sweet for grandparents to give to their grandchildren, which has become a staple from their advertisements.
For this film, there is a teenager who storms off to their room after an argument with their parents. Afterwards, she beings posting a status update to Facebook before she enters a 'dreamscape' with two mysterious figures. These figures give the teenager a pile of Werther's Original sweets. After which, she takes one and after showing her happiness for the sweet, leaves her room, with the figures disappearing into thin air afterwards.
The teenager was played by Emily Lywood, with the figures being played by myself and Henry Speirs.

Music Video Project - December 2012
This project was to do a three minute long music video for a song of our choice. For this one, we chose the song Tonight We Feel Alive by Four Year Strong.
The music video is about the general public showing their strength against the government, which is what the song is based around as well. We did this by featuring a well-dressed figure representing a disliked political figure, with the public trying to rebel against them.
The two rebellers were played by Matthew Hopkinson and Edward Long. The political figure was played by Ben Sworn.
The production was created by myself, Edward Long and Luke Weightman.
